Spearhead raise money for CALM Charity
Earlier this year Spearhead Machinery announced CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) as our Charity Partner for 2022. And so began a 12 month campaign to raise awareness of the issues of suicide and poor mental health within the Farming and Land Management industries.
Worryingly, the suicide rate for male farm workers is three times the male national average, and every single week, three people in the UK farming and agricultural industry die by suicide.
We wanted our campaigning, across all of our digital platforms, to help raise awareness of this terrifying statistic. One of our proudest moments of the campaigning was the ideation and creation of a unique Multicut 460 in the CALM colours and livery, which was promoted at UK shows throughout the summer and put up for sale – with proceeds going to the CALM Charity.
…So, it was fantastic to sell the machine to M Dodd Countryside Services and then see the guys putting our special ‘CALM’ MULTICUT Pro-Line 460 to work out in the field back in October.
But don’t just take our word for it, this is what Martin Dodd had to say:
“Wow what a game changer this topper has been for us this year, mainly carrying out amenity and conservation work we need to be in and out of some of the inner city sites quickly. Over 200 acres of topping carried out on a large number of small sites in 3 days.”

This eye-catching paint job was designed and created in-house, to represent our work supporting CALM. Proceeds of the sale were donated to the CALM charity By Spearhead as part of our ongoing campaign to help raise awareness of mental health issues within the farming and land-management industries.

PROCEEDS TO CHARITY
Suicide is one of the biggest killers in the farming community, with statistics, sadly showing that on average one farmer a week will take their own life in the UK.
CALM is a suicide prevention charity that offers a wide range of services to help people when they are in a bad place.
Their aim is to save lives and transform society so that people feel empowered to share their experiences and get the help they need before they reach the point of crisis.

With your help, we want to encourage people in our community to feel that they can reach out to CALM for support.
They may be struggling, in crisis, or recently bereaved.
Working to change attitudes, and lives.
CALM has not traditionally been involved with agricultural suicide prevention – SPEARHEAD is proud to be working with them to change that.
Our aim is that, together with CALM, we can ensure people are aware of them and that they feel empowered to reach out to them.
